Frequently Asked Questions

Ballroom dance is an umbrella term referring to a style of partnered dancing that has a long and rich history. It encompasses a variety of dance styles that are typically performed at social events, competitions, and showcases. Examples of ballroom dances include the Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Cha Cha, Rumba, and many others. Ballroom dancing is characterized by its elegance, grace, and precision, as well as the close physical connection between partners. It is enjoyed by dancers of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to seasoned professionals.

Our ballroom dance studio offers a wide range of classes for dancers of all levels, from beginners to advanced. We offer group classes, private lessons, wedding dance lessons, and more.

Our monthly social dances are a great opportunity to practice your dance skills and socialize with other dancers. Held on the final Friday of each month, immediately following our group class, they feature a variety of music and dance styles. During our social dances, you'll have the chance to dance with different partners throughout the night, which is a great way to improve your technique and meet new people. Our experienced instructors are available to provide guidance and feedback during the social dance, and they'll be more than happy to answer any questions you may have. Our monthly social dances are open to everyone, regardless of their skill level, and no partner is required. It is a great way to enjoy an evening of music, dance, and fun.

No, you do not need to attend our group classes to attend our monthly social dances. While it is highly encouraged, we welcome dancers of all levels and backgrounds, and our experienced instructors are available to provide guidance and support throughout the evening. However, attending our group class can be a great way to learn new steps and improve your dancing skills before the social dance. We offer our group classes on the same night as the social dance, immediately before it, so it's easy to attend both events. Please keep in mind that our pricing for the monthly social dance does include the group class, so if you choose not to attend the group class, you will still need to pay the same fee as those who attend both events.

You do not need to have a partner to take classes. We understand that many people come to our studio without a dance partner, and we strive to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to learn and enjoy ballroom dancing. During our group classes, we rotate partners regularly, so you will have the opportunity to dance with different people and practice your skills with a variety of partners. If you prefer private lessons, one of our qualified instructors will partner with you to provide personalized instruction that is tailored to your individual needs and goals.

No, you don't need any previous dance experience to take classes at our studio. Our classes are designed to be accessible to dancers of all levels, from beginners to advanced.

Both in-person and online lessons can be scheduled through our online booking system, which is available 24-hours a day. Our booking system reflects the studio current availability, hours of operation, and available staff member. If multiple staff members are available, don't stress about picking an instructor. All of our instructors are trained to work with you through your first lesson, and they will match you with the right expert for subsequent lessons.

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely and easily during class. You want to feel comfortable and confident, so we suggest avoiding restrictive clothing, heavy fabrics, and shoes with too much grip. For women, we recommend wearing dance shoes or shoes with a low, sturdy heel that provide ample support and stability. For men, we recommend dress shoes with a leather sole, which provide the necessary slip and slide. If you are interested in performance or competitive pursuits, we recommend investing in ballroom-specific shoes. These shoes are designed to provide optimal support and flexibility for the unique demands of ballroom dancing. Our instructors are happy to assist you in selecting and purchasing the right pair of shoes for your needs.

The cost of lessons and classes at our studio varies depending on the type of lesson or class and number of sessions. We offer packages and discounts for multiple sessions. Please refer to our pricing information below.

Yes, we primarily offer private lessons for dancers who want one-on-one instruction or who have specific dance goals they want to achieve.

You can take classes at our studio for fun, social dancing, or to compete. We offer classes that cater to all types of dancers, from those who want to learn basic steps to those who want to master advanced techniques.

We have a diverse community of students ranging in age from children to seniors. We welcome dancers of all ages and backgrounds and strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone. While there is no upper limit on age for our students, we do require a phone consultation for parents interested in getting their kids involved in ballroom dance. At this time, we are not offering children's group classes, but we are happy to discuss private lesson options for children.

Unless otherwise noted, all of our classes and lessons are 55 minutes and are booked on the hour.

When you book your first lesson, you will have the opportunity to leave any comments or preferences for your instructor. If you have a particular dance style, goal, or song in mind, we will shape your lesson accordingly. If you do not have any specific requests, we will assume that you are a beginner and come prepared to teach you some basic dance steps in a few different styles.

Yes, we do require payment information to schedule a lesson. However, you have the option to prepay for the lesson during the checkout process, or to have the card on file charged at the time of your lesson. If you have received a gift card, you will still need to input a valid credit card in order to hold the appointment, but your instructor can charge the gift card at your lesson. Rest assured that we take your payment information security seriously, and all transactions are processed using secure payment gateways.

While we do not offer refunds for lessons, we offer free rescheduling up to 24 hours before the scheduled lesson if you discover that you have a conflict at the time that you initially scheduled.

We understand that all of our students have different goals and schedules, so the decision to practice between lessons is entirely up to you. Some of our students come to lessons simply to have a fun date night with their partner, while others are more serious about their dancing pursuits and want to practice regularly. However, practicing between lessons is certainly the best way to get the most value from your lessons and to continue improving. We will always take the time to review any material from previous lessons, but consistent practice will help us make the most progress together.

The number of lessons you should take depends on your goals and needs. We understand that everyone learns at their own pace and that is why we offer the flexibility to schedule as many or as few lessons as you would like. We do not require any long-term contracts or commitments when scheduling your first lesson. After the first lesson, our experienced instructors will provide you with a personalized recommendation on the number of lessons that would best help you achieve your goals. We also have package rates available for individuals interested in taking multiple lessons, but these options will only be suggested once you've had a chance to take your first lesson and decide whether our studio is right for you.

Absolutely! We understand that you might have questions or concerns before booking your first lesson, and we would love to chat with you about any inquiries you might have. Our friendly staff can be reached by phone at 304-449-4030 during our standard business hours. We are more than happy to discuss any questions or concerns you may have regarding our lessons, the culture and atmosphere at the studio, what you should expect to learn, or how we can work with you to achieve your goals. So, please do not hesitate to contact us.

five starsMy husband bought me dancing lessons and it was magical! We ended up going back for a second lesson and learned even more styles. We have decided it's such a great date night that we we're going to continue once a month! Samantha has a way of making you feel comfortable even when you're stepping on each other's feet... Dancing together is so much better than going to dinner or a movie. I highly recommend taking lessons from Samantha! This will bring you joy!
